The Tucson office of Golder Associates is looking for a CAD Technician to assist the professional and technical staff of the various ground engineering disciplines. Candidates must have experience with AutoCAD or Autodesk Civil 3D. Training at an accredited technical school or on-the-job training is a must. Must be able to work independently, as well as on a team. We are a design-intensive office and having a can-do, hands-on approach is a benefit. Desirable CADD skills include manual 2D and 3D drafting with topography, competency with AutoCAD, familiarity with Sheet Sets and the Sheet Set Manager, image overlays, coordinate conversions, and CAD document production. Basic working knowledge of Civil 3D is desirable, but not necessary. Must be able to work well with others and adopt and adhere to CAD standards. Other skills include a working knowledge of computers and an understanding of the Windows 7 operating system, performing computer back-ups, reimaging computers, tracking computer hardware inventory, and assist corporate IT staff with on-site IT support as needed.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Work closely with the various ground engineering disciplines in providing engineering 2D and 3D drafting services.
  • Prepare engineering plans, profiles, sections, and details, for design, tender, construction, and as‑constructed drawing sets; and figures for proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Compile 3D surfaces representing various ground engineering features such as graded terrain, tailings depositions, haul roads, dams, open pits, quarries, landfills, channels, and ponds.
  • Assist users with IT issues related to hardware and the operating system and support Corporate IT staff on-site as needed.

Job Requirements:

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • 1-2 years experience with AutoCAD (includes education and/or on-the-job training) and production
  • Certification or Diploma from an accredited Technical School or College in CADD/Engineering technology, or equivalent
  • Practical knowledge of the following primary software is essential: AutoCAD, Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, Microsoft Office
  • Very strong oral and written communication skillsVery strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Good problem solver with the ability to identify other alternate solutions\Strong sense and commitment to CAD standards and procedures
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects/tasks and respond to the needs of several people
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Possess a valid US driver’s license
  • Pass a pre-employment physical including drug screening and a background check
